Bandung, 2025 — To support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in achieving more structured and sustainable growth, a team of lecturers from the School of Economics and Business, Telkom University, in collaboration with Rumah BUMN, organized a Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Scaling-Up Strategy Workshop for Outstanding MSMEs. The program was designed to ensure that MSMEs not only survive in a competitive market, but are also prepared to elevate their businesses and expand their market reach.
The workshop was conducted as part of Telkom University’s Community Service Program and was led by a team of lecturers comprising Dr. Budi Prasetiyo, S.Sos., M.M., Dr. Uruqul Nadhif Dzakiy, S.Si., M.T., and Dr. Yogi Suprayogi, S.SE., M.M. The team was actively involved in all stages of the program, including planning, material development, training implementation, and evaluation, in close collaboration with Rumah BUMN as the partner institution.

Many MSMEs under Rumah BUMN’s guidance have traditionally operated their businesses organically, without clear and structured business planning. In reality, sustainable business growth requires MSME owners to clearly understand their target customers, value propositions, marketing channels, cost structures, and revenue streams. These essential elements are comprehensively captured in a practical strategic tool known as the Business Model Canvas.
Through this workshop, participants were guided to develop a Business Model Canvas tailored to their own businesses. The sessions were conducted interactively, combining theoretical explanations with discussions and case studies of successful MSMEs. One of the speakers, Dr. Uruqul Nadhif Dzakiy, emphasized that business growth does not need to occur instantly. “The key is to grow gradually and strategically, starting from refining the business model, improving service quality, and building long-term relationships with customers,” he explained.
Evaluation results indicate that participants found the workshop highly beneficial. Their understanding of business models improved significantly, and many participants began to recognize the importance of proper cost recording, strategic partnerships, and the use of digital platforms for marketing. Participants also expressed strong interest in similar programs being held in the future, as the topics addressed were considered highly relevant to current MSME challenges.
Through this collaboration, Telkom University and Rumah BUMN hope that assisted MSMEs will not only remain resilient, but also grow into more professional, competitive, and sustainable enterprises, ultimately generating greater economic impact for the wider community.
